Costanoa Recap 2

On Monday morning we woke up bright and early and took a short drive down the coast to Davenport, a little unincorporated community in Santa Cruz county, for breakfast at the Whale City Bakery.

I had some delicious granola with fresh berries and Brian enjoyed a Farmer's Scramble with leeks, mushrooms, and lots of cheese. We also consumed gallons of coffee, obviously!

Finally, it was massage time! I have not received a massage since this time last year, right before our wedding. Brian had never gotten a massage!

We were treated to incredible integrative massages, which incorporate Shiatsu, reflexology, and cranial-sacral therapy techniques. Afterwards, we both just lay on the table saying, "Whoah."

Trying to pack as much into this 24-hour period as possible, we hopped back in the car and drove a few miles to Swanton Berry Farm, an organic berry farm, to do some fresh berry picking! We ended up with several pounds of fresh strawberries and about 3/4 lb fresh ollaliberries.

Finally, it was time to go home. We drove back into town through Palo Alto and stopped at my family's grocery store for lunch. Fortunately, my little brother was working in the deli, so he made us sandwiches so large that we ate half for lunch and saved the other half for dinner (he also remembered to lay off the mayo - good work, little bro!).

I had originally intended to do a a 3-miler when we got home but, to quote Brian, "I felt like a noodle!" Must have been that massage! We decided to talk a walk along the creek and have dinner in the park instead.

This is the trail that I run on every day!

We sat down at some picnic tables, but were immediately attacked by a flock of geese.

After relocating, we were able to enjoy our dinner. Check out Brian's enormous sandwich!

Fresh berries from the farm.

Clearly, Brian and I don't do relaxing very well (well, aside from the massages)! We like to pack a lot into every trip! How do you like to vacation?
